First Christian Church Chancel Choir is an exciting, fun-filled, choir of approximately 40 singers, with the potential to be a choir of 50!! We seek to bring people closer to the Savior through music and fellowship. We are challenged by fresh music while continuing the tradition of excellence established at FCC. We are accepting of new ideas, personalities and ministry options. We are open to the possibilities generated by the creativity and leading of God.
You are welcome to join our choir just as you are!
You are welcome if....
You aren’t the fittest person in the congregation…
You need to sit during stretches of performances…
You need to leave early due to family obligations…
You have to arrive late due to work/school requirements….
And there are no dues or expected costs and fees.
We rehearse only once a week usually for an hour, starting at 6:30 pm in the choir loft. Closer to Christmas or Easter, we may rehearse for up to an hour and a half.
Benefits to singing in Choir: here is a small excerpt I found from Chorus America.
Washington, D.C.—If you enjoy singing with your neighbors, congregation, or classmates, you’re taking an increasingly popular path to a successful life. 32.5 million adults regularly sing in choruses today. Choral singing is the most popular form of participation in the performing arts for both adults and children. “The prototype of a choral singer is how Americans aspire to see themselves today: as active, involved citizens with a broad range of creative interests and concerns for their communities,” says Ann Meier Baker, the President and CEO of Chorus America.
Singing might be fun, might be joyful and uplifting, might inspire poetry and paeans. But could it actually be good for you? Oh yes. It seems that Kellogg was on to something.
